Thad Rutherford has been appointed to the office of Teamsters Local 294 Trustee.
Thad replaces retiring trustee Chuck Bentley Jr. Thad has been a teamster since 1973 and is a chief shop steward at UPS Latham.

 

Local 294 would like to  Honor our Service Men and Women.
Local 294 is proud of our fighting men and women, especially any of those who are members or related to our members. If any of our members has an immediate member of their family serving with the armed forces, and would like to see their name and photo posted on our Military Page  let me know. We would like to honor our service men and women with a page all their own. Please send me a photo if available their name, rank, branch of service, their relationship to you and where they are serving.  We would also like to include pictures of our members who have served in the past, either in war or peace time. So if you are a veteran please send in your picture. Please include the information posted above and also the years you served.

Obituaries

 

Edward J. Haack Jr.

Haack, Edward J. Jr. LOUDONVILLE Edward J. Haack Jr., 83, formerly of Kings Court, Loudonville, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center, Albany after a long illness. He was born and educated in Albany and was the son of the late Edward J. Sr. and Edith Radcliff Haack. He was employed by the city of Albany in Washington Park, Albany County Airport maintenance, and Town of Colonie Town Hall maintenance. He was a truck driver for Oneida Markets and Old Colony. He was a member of Shaker Road Loudonville Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Husband of the late Marjorie deRouville Haack. He is survived by his children, Donna Haack of Loudonville, E. John Haack of Rochester, Richard Haack of Latham and David Haack of Colonie; brother of the late Doris Semrov; grandfather of Steven, Gregory and Timothy Haack of Rochester. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff on the Blue Unit at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center for all the loving care they gave to their Dad this last year of his life. Funeral Saturday 10:00 a.m. at the Dufresne Funeral Home Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made in Edward's memory to the Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. Paul Engel Jr Organizer

 

President John Bulgaro and the Executive Board are proud to announce that Paul Engel Jr has been appointed to the position of local 294 organizer, replacing Gary Ryan who has done an excellent job in this position over the last few years. Gary has gone on to work for the Albany Health Fund.  Paul's appointment as organizer was efective the last week in January 2006 and the official announcement was made at the February union meeting. Paul's impressive resume follows.

1994

Paul joined the Local and was working for Allied Systems in Selkirk.

1998

Casual driver in package cars for UPS

2001

Bechtel Inc working at the Athens Generating Plant as shop steward.

2002

Left Bechtel and went to flight school for the US Army National Guard.

2003

Graduated flight school.

2003

Went to work for Welded Construction and worked as shop steward on the pipeline  in Scotia.
In between construction jobs Paul worked on organizing campaigns as a volunteer and with Teamsters Care.
 

May 2004

Activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom III and served in combat as the Headquarters, Headquarters Company commander for the 42nd Aviation Brigade, New York Army National Guard.
In combat Paul received the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service along with the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, and the Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

Nov 2005

Returned home from active duty.

Appointed to the position of Organizer for Teamsters Local 294
