From the Desk of President Tom Quackenbush

First and foremost, on behalf of myself, the Executive Board, and our entire
Staff, we would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas,
and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

This past year, we had a record year of fundraising for our Teamsters Care
program. We had 53 scholarship recipients, and we were able to help countless
members in need. We were able to give to many charitable organizations in our
communities who help so many in need.

Again, I thank our Teamsters Care Board of Directors and all of our volunteers
    for their efforts.

I would be remiss if I did not mention our great sponsors that contribute to our
program. Without their sponsorship of our events, our Teamsters Care program would not be the success that it is. We ask, whenever possible, please consider them for your needs because they believe in Unions and they believe in us!

In closing, look for our Scholarship Application in the Spring and if
you know of a member in need, please reach out to me with a formal request at
    Tquackenbush@teamsterslocal294.org.

  • Organize Your Workplace

Most employers wish their company could remain union free because unions stand up for the rights of employees and demand that their voice be heard. The only way to force a positive change in your workplace is for you and your co-workers to have representation from Teamsters Union Local 294. One employee all alone will be ignored, but when you and your co-workers organize with Teamsters Union Local 294 and become united, we will be able to negotiate a legally binding contract that includes better wages, affordable health care, a secure retirement and a safer workplace for all.

Members of Teamsters Union Local 294 understand that the only way to ensure job security and protect the future of their families is to negotiate a legally binding union contract. When you and your co-workers negotiate a union contract, your wages and benefits will be part of the negotiating process. When was the last time that your boss asked you for your input when it came to your review?

The rights and benefits in a legally binding contract cannot be reversed once they are agreed upon. The Teamsters will fight to get you and your family the compensation you deserve. The rights outlined in the contract cannot be altered without your approval. Therefore, as an example, if the contract states that you are entitled to two full weeks of vacation a year, you are able to take those vacation days off without negotiating on an individual basis with management.

The members of the Teamsters Union understand that the only way to ensure job security and protect the future of their families is to negotiate a legally binding union contract.

For further information on organizing, please feel free to send an e-mail to our Organizer Jason Hughes jhughes@teamsterslocal294.org  or call (518) 744-8222.  All calls and emails are confidential.
